The results of two recent surveys highlight our challenges for the next decade.  The Economist Intelligence Unit, a subsidiary of the Economist Group, and the Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) surveyed top global executives and human resource leaders and both revealed that rewarding, retaining and attracting the best people will be the biggest challenges.

The Economist report forecasts leaders will push decision-making authority down and earlier in careers.   Leading organization will hold onto their people by leveraging multi-cultural diversity, accelerating leadership training to younger workers, and extend training to the older workforce .   To meet the retention challenge, the SHRM survey revealed 58 percent will deploy the tactic of more work/life flexibility by leveraging technology and 47 percent of respondents will create an organizational culture of “trust, open communication and fairness emphasized and demonstrated by leaders.”
